L2 ICW May 9 - 11 Allegany State Park

 L2 ICW May 9 - 11

Allegany State Park, NY

The spectacular Jeff Atkins and I will run an L2 coastal kayak instructor certification workshop (ICW) in Allegany State Park. The focus of the ICW will revolve around three central goals.
  • Help instructor candidates to develop a solid individual kayaking pedagogy and implement that pedagogy in the L2 environment.
  • Sharpen and develop candidates group management skills in L2 conditions.
  • Have fun!
If you love kayaking, have had previous instruction or hit the books hard and you're ready to start teaching others, then this course is for you.

Dov Neimand is an experienced teacher with over 4,500 expedition nautical miles under his belt. Everything that can go wrong has happened to him, and he has a track record of making sure it doesn't happen to his students.

Jeff is a retired Park Ranger who coaches and guides trips around North America while helping participants grow their paddling and leadership skills. He holds several paddling certifications including being an Advanced Open Water Instructor and a Coastal Kayak Instructor Trainer for the American Canoe Association.  Jeff is a team paddler for Sea Kayaking UK/NDK, Celtic Paddles, and Bishop Boards. Paddling is his passion and he loves to spread this “infectious” recreation activity to others. He believes in helping others to expand their confidence and skills by having fun while learning. “There is nothing like the feeling of seeing a person smile because they just did something that they didn’t think they could do.”

The price of the course is $500. Spaces are limited and available on a first come first serve basis. The practice-student option is a good choice for paddlers who want to work on their L2 skills, but have no interest in instructor certification.

Spaces can be reserved with a non refundable deposit of $100. Reservations made after April 20th will incur a late fee of $25. All final payments must be made before the course starts.

The option also exists to take this course as an instructor update.

Contact KayakDov@gmail.com or call Dov at 201 281 1530 with any questions.  Read more about the course here.

If you choose to stay in the park, be sure to reserve your site well in advance.

Can’t wait to see you on the water!
