Here in the NYC area, I start beginners in conveniently located Overpeck Park or on the pristine waters of Monksville reservoir, ideal environments for beginners. More advanced paddlers can develop their skills under Kayak Dov's expert tutelage in the cornucopia of exciting waters around New York City including the tide race at Hell's Gate and the surf off Breezy Point.
ACA assessments at all levels are available on request. If you're interested in a workshop, lesson, or assessment, please call or email. Have kayaks; will travel.
- $75 per hr. Beginners are recommended to start with a two hour lesson.
- $200 for a more advanced half day session or a guided tour.
- $250 per day for single or multi-day overnight trips. Guided circumnavigations of Manhattan and explorations of the Long Island Sound and NJ shore are extremely popular.
- Ask about group rates.

These instructions are no replacement for actual lessons with a qualified instructor (Me!).
It is not enough to read about kayaking, go and practice, go and play. The best teacher is the sea.
