May ACA L4 IDW

May, 13 - 15, 2018
Breezy Point, NYC
Experienced expedition paddler Dov Neimand and wizard on the water Dale Williams will be running an L4 open water coastal kayak instructor development workshop (IDW) in some of New York City's finest waterways.  The focus of the course will revolve around four central goals.
  • Prepare instructor candidates for for their L4 instructor certification exam.
  • Help instructor candidates to develop a solid individual kayaking pedagogy.
  • Sharpen and develop candidates personal paddling and group management skills in L4 conditions.
  • Have fun, make friends, network, and sing kumbaya. (disclaimer: no singing is likely to take place, but we can always hope.)

If you are an ACA L3 instructor and L4 paddler ready to take your instruction to the next level, then this course if for you.

Dov Neimand is an experienced teacher with over 4,000 expedition nautical miles under his belt.  Everything that can go wrong, has happened to him, and he has a track record of making sure it doesn't happen to his students.

Dale Williams is an ACA L-5 Instructor Trainer Educator (ITE).  There is no higher designation in the ACA and Dale is known for his detailed knowledge of all things kayaking.  A former paragliding, and ski instructor, Dale knows adventure sports and has a unique style that results in students growing their skills in challenging environments.

The price is $150/day for instructor candidates and $75/day for practice students. Spaces are limited, so book your spot now!
Spaces can be reserved with a non refundable down-payment of $100.  Reservations made after April 15th will incur a late fee of $25.  All final payments must be made before the course starts.

The course will be based out of Floyd Bennett Field, where some of us will be camping, and off of the Rockaways and Breezy Point for some hopefully great surf.
